OB/GYN Clinic Physician Coverage

Scheduled Coverage

• Monday-Friday
• 8:00 AM-5:00 PM clinic hours
• 3 physician FTE model when fully staffed but minimum of one physician in clinic and one on back-up call at all times.

Responsibilities

Clinic OB/GYN physicians are expected to:

• See outpatient OB and GYN patients
• Perform office procedures
• Perform surgeries (block schedule of surgeries. Robotics available.)
• Provide daytime Labor & Delivery coverage (Monday-Thursday only)
• Support the midwife and AP team
• Take daytime physician call for obstetric patients (7am-7pm when locums are the designated primary call coverage Monday-Thursday. 
  • On these days, locums would have a very light clinic schedule of only OB patients and typically only 6-8 appointment on schedule).

Daytime Call / Backup Call

The clinic physicians provide:

Primary daytime OB call

• Covers Labor & Delivery during business hours
• Available for operative deliveries, cesarean sections, and physician consultation

Second physician backup call

• Backup for simultaneous deliveries
• Backup for operative cases
• Support for higher-acuity obstetric situations and physician availability needs

The program specifically utilizes a second-provider backup call structure as part of the physician staffing model.
